Pahang MIC chides myPPP for spilling beans on GE14 seat allocation powwows

KUANTAN: Pahang MIC has urged fellow Barisan Nasional (BN) component party People's Progressive Party (myPPP) to keep details of discussions about seat allocations for the 14th General Election (GE14) confidential, instead of announcing them to the media.

State MIC chairman Datuk R. Goonasakaren reminded myPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas to respect the BN principle of discussing internal matters only with other coalition members.

"myPPP is a (BN) component party and should discuss the issue with the MIC president and PM," he said in reference to party president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also BN chairman.

Too much focus on rural over urban areas then by Selangor BN, says Noh Omar

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) gave too much focus on improving the lives of rural community at the expense of urban dwellers in the past, said its chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar.

He said this contributed to its dismal performance in the urban constituencies in the last general election in 2013.

"In the rural areas, we made sure that roads were paved and maintained for the convenience of the villagers then,” he said when closing the Resident Association Chairman Course for 2016-2018 today.

Noh, who is also Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, said there were urban issues that were not properly addressed in the past.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Umno has distanced itself from Malaysian NGOs Coalition chairman Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, who earlier today stirred controversy by smashing crates of beer in front of the state secretariat building to protest beer festivals in the state.

Selangor Umno information chief Datuk Zein Isma Ismail said the actions of Jamal, who is also the party's Sungai Besar division chief, had nothing to do with them.

“Jamal did not do it on the name of Selangor Umno, but under the capacity of the NGOs Coalition. It so happens that he is a member of the Selangor Umno liaison committee. So do not be mistaken,” Zein told a press conference at the Selangor Umno headquarters today.
